Dengue fever continues uncontrolled in Taiwan

Dengue fever continues to increase rapidly in Taiwan. Approximately 2,000 new cases have been registered in jsut the past few days. The total number of cases so far in this outbreak has reached 8,060 cases, With the vast majority of the patients reported in Tainan City and Kaohsiung City.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
