Dengue fever down and up in Singapore

Reports of people infected with dengue fever oscillate from week to week. In the past 2 days, there were 25 new infections with a total of 176 new cases of dengue during the entire week. For this year, almost 12,000 people have been infected.

Advice For Travellers

The risk of exposure will vary from place to place within the city and may be high in many localities.

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
