Dengue fever epidemic still continues in Taiwan

The total number of dengue fever patients in the current epidemic has reached almost 34,000. The city of Kaohsiung recorded 290 new cases yesterday. The number of suspected deaths has increased to 33 nationwide. The other highly affected city continues to be Tainan.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
