Dengue fever exceeds "normal" threshold in some districts of São Paulo

At least 25 of the 96 districts in the city of São Paulo have reported higher than normal numbers of cases of dengue fever. So far, the city has recorded a total of 10,124 reported cases. This number is 19 percent more than for the same time period last year. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
