Dengue fever in Asia

The following countries are reporting cases and outbreaks of dengue fever:

Philippines - Palawan region, Puerto Princesa City, 109 cases, 90 hospitalized, 1 death.

Taiwan - Southern region, 330-430 cases with Tainan most affected municipality.

Malaysia - 71,001 cases with 192 deaths.

Singapore - 5,422 cases.

Pakistan - dengue fever cases identified in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan

Advice

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
