Dengue fever in Bolivia and Brazil (update)

Bolivia - So far, 6,776 suspected and confirmed cases have been reported. There have been 4 deaths. The areas most affected are in eastern tropical and semi-tropical ares.
Brazil - At present, states that are reporting large numbers of dengue fever cases include the Federal District, Espitito Santo, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Paraná.

There may be many more unreported cases since counting andreporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and manypersons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas wherethe dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to denguefever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
