Dengue fever in Brazil

São Paulo State

From January to May of 2011, health authorities registered 55,100 dengue cases with 21 deaths.

Rio Grande do Norte State

Health authorities have registered a total of nearly 14,000 dengue cases. It is expected that this number will increase to 17,000 in next 2 months. Four deaths have been recorded and another 20 deaths are awaiting results from laboratory tests.

Travellers should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue fever and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
