• National total more than 35,000 cases; 216 deaths; Increasing trend. States most affected: Kerala, Karnataka
• Tamil Nadu - 9,249 cases, 60 deaths
• West Bengal - 6,067 cases
• Maharashtra - 59 deaths
• Assam -1,790 cases; 11 deaths
• Delhi area - 1,997 cases; 4 deaths

Philippines - national total 132,046 cases. Increasing trend

*Note: Due to incomplete reporting, lack of access to health care in some areas, and the fact that many persons with dengue fever may not seek medical care and be reported to health authorities, there may be many more cases in the community than are reported. Travellers to these areas can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
