Dengue fever in Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka (update)

Pakistan - in Sindh Province, the number of reported cases of dengue fever in incresing slowly for a total of 549 cases so far this year.
India - In Pune in Maharashtra State, there have only been 44 cases reported in July. However, there have been 6 deaths this year.
Sri Lanka - So far, there have been 20,216 reported cases. The most affected municipalities include Colombo, Gamapaha, and Karunagala.

There may be many more unreported cases of dengue since counting and reporting cases may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and many persons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to dengue fever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
