Dengue fever in Pakistan, India and the Philippines (update)

Pakistan - Since September this year, there have been over 4,000 reported cases of dengue fever. The most affected provinces have been Punjab and Sindh. There have been 59 reported deaths in these 2 provinces.

India - There have been more than 67,365 reported cases including 152 deaths. Maharashtra state continues to be one of the most affected, especially the city of Mumbai.

Philippines - More than 117,000 cases have been reported nationwide this year.

The actual number of cases is much greater than the reported number for several reasons. People with mild infections may not go to the doctor, or they may not have access to health care. Travellers can reduce the risk of infection with dengue fever by following all recommendations to avoid mosquito bites.
