Sporadic cases and outbreaks of dengue fever are being reported from the following states and localities:
- Minas Gerais - dengue reported in Passos (2,836 cases); Campo Belo, Três Corações
- São Paulo - reported in Alto Tietê, Arujá, Itaquaquecetuba, Suzano, Poá, Santa Isabel, Sorocaba, Atibaia (worst epidemic in city’s history with 216 cases)
- Paraná - Maringá (almost 6,000 reports of dengue fever cases) Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
