Dengue fever increases this year in the Philippines

A total of almost 79,000 people nationwide have been diagnosed with dengue fever. This is an increase compared to the same time last year. The most affected areas include Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, National Capital Region, Ilocos and Central Mindanao.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
