Dengue fever is increasing in Central Visayas Region in the Philippines

Authorities are reporting significant increases in people infected with dengue fever in Central Visayas Region. The most affected municipalities include Cebu City (with 1 death), Mandaue City, Liloan, Talisay City and Toledo City.

Advice For Travellers

The Visayas Region is composed of the provinces co Bohol, Cebu, and Siquijor. The risk of exposure to dengue fever will vary from place to place within these provinces. However, all travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
