Dengue fever is still a risk in Brazil

So far, there have been 659,051 cases of dengue with 249 deaths reported nationwide. While this number is less than the number reported in the same time period as last year, and while the risk of exposure is not the same in all parts of the country, nevertheless, travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
