Dengue fever outbreak in Taiwan continues to grow

Dengue fever continues to expand in Taiwan. Now there are more than 4,600 reported cases with 19 deaths. Most of the cases have been reported in Tainan City, but other affected municipalities and areas include Kaohsiung, Pingtung County, Taipei, Taichung, Taoyuan City, and Hsinchu County.

Advice For Travellers

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
