Health authorities in Belize are reporting an outbreak of dengue fever. Since the beginning of 2011, 184 cases have been confirmed with 150 of them occurring between May and July. Health Ministry officials are taking steps to prevent the disease from spreading.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
