Dengue fever remains a problem in Punjab, Pakistan

Health authorities have confirmed a total of 1,419 cases of dengue fever since the beginning of 2011. Since many people do not seek medical attention for this illness and thus do not come to the attention of health authorities, there are undoubtedly many more undetected cases in the population.

The city of Lahore has registered 145 cases while Rawalpindi has counted 125 cases in the last few days.

Travellers to this area should be aware of the risk of exposure to dengue fever and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
