Dengue fever reported by 3 provinces in Pakistan

The following provinces are reporting dengue fever infections:

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - the most affected districts include Mansehra, Abbottabad, Malakand, Peshawar and Swat.
• Punjab - Rawalpindi has reported 3,740 cases with at least 10 deaths; Multan has reported 340 cases.
• Sindh - approximately 3,000 cases with 7 deaths

Advice

All travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
