Dengue fever reported in Formosa, Argentina

There are more than 30 cases of dengue fever reported in Formosa. High ambient temperatures and high humidity levels favour the breeding of the mosquitoes that transmit this disease.

Advice For Travellers

Although the risk of exposure may be low for the general traveller, it may be high in some areas. At present, all travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
