Dengue fever, reports from India and the Philippines

In India's Goa state, a “large number of cases” of dengue have been reported with at least 8 cases in the last 4 days. The most affected areas include Verem and Nerul.

In the Philippines, more than 15,000 cases and 62 deaths have been reported, especially from both Manila and Quezon cities.

Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
