Dengue fever reports in Mexico (update)

Two of Mexico's states, Tamaulipas and Quintana Roo, are reporting modest numbers of cases of dengue fever in spite of major control efforts. In Quintana Roo, the most affected municipalities include Benito Juárez, Othón P. Blanco, Bacalar, Solidaridad, Cozumel, Isla Mujeres,Lázaro Cárdenas, Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, and José María Morelos. There may be many more unreported cases since counting andreporting may be hampered by lack of local access to health care, and manypersons with mild illness may not seek health care. Travellers to areas wherethe dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure to denguefever virus by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
