Dengue fever risk in Cuba may be high in March

The Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin, published by the Cuban Instituto Pedro Kouri, has reported that the population of mosquitoes that can carry the dengue fever virus is expected to be quite high in March all across the country. Therefore, the risk of exposure to the dengue fever virus may be high.

Travellers to areas where the dengue fever virus is active can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Many persons with dengue fever do not seek medical care and are not reported to health authorities. There may be many more cases in the community than the reports indicate.
