Destructive flooding in southeast India

Torrential rain for the past week has caused flooding in southeast India in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Orissa. In Hyderabad, knee-deep water is surging through the streets. Thousands have evacuated as floods have damaged or destroyed homes, blocked roads and disrupted railway services. Weather forecasts for these areas indicate that the rain is expected to continue at least through Sunday.
