Disastrous flooding in Louisiana and Mississippi, USA

Heavy rainfall has caused disastrous flooding in southeastern areas of the states of Louisiana and Mississippi. Both states are under a state of emergency. Although rain has subsided, the flood warning continues for the following rivers in these two states: Tickfaw, Amite, Comite, Calcasieu, Vermilion, Mermentau, Tangipahoa, Pearl, Bogue Chitto and Tchefuncte.

Although the rain has subsided, rivers are continuing to rise. Water levels are not expected to recede for two days. Authorities are asking people to stay in a safe place and avoid sightseeing. There are power outages and curfews in some areas. Many roadways are impassable.
