Early record breaking heat wave in India

Central and northern India is struggling to cope with record breaking heat ahead of the summer monsoon rains. With temperatures generally around four or five degrees above average both by day and by night, there has been an increase in people treated for heatstroke. In New Delhi the high temperature for the day was around 45 Celsius over the last three days. In Nagpur, Ganganagar and Chandrapur, temperatures reached 47.9, 48 and 48.2 Celsius respectively. Travellers should exercise caution and avoid extreme heat during daytime hours. It is essential to maintain good hydration by consuming large quantities of liquids.
