Early signs of start of West Nile Fever season in USA

Early signs of the start of West Nile Fever season have been reported in Texas and California. In Dallas County, Texas, where mosquitoes that may carry the virus increase in April, health authorities are warning the population to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. In Santa Clara County, California, 3 birds tested positive for the disease.

While the overall risk for travellers in the USA is low, nevertheless, since there is no vaccine or treatment for West Nile fever, travellers to areas where this virus has been found can reduce their risk of exposure by taking all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
