Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo appears to be under control

As at 5 Oct 2014, there have been 71 suspected and confirmed cases. There have been 43 deaths, including 8 healthcare workers. All contacts have been monitored and with only 1 new cases and 1 death, the outbreak appears to be under control. This outbreak is unrelated to the Ebola epidemic affecting Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The risk for travellers is very low, provided simple precautions are taken. Any person in the affected area should avoid any direct contact with anyone suspected to have this infection.
