Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo increasing slowly

There are some new cases of Ebola in the outbreak in the Boende areas of Equateur Province, although there is some confusion about the exact number. According to unofficial reports, 7 new cases bring the total to 13 confirmed cases, but there are 16 other suspected cases. This outbreak is not related to the outbreak affecting Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria in West Africa.

The World Health Organization does not recommend any travel restrictions, but while the risk of infection is considered very low, certain precautions should be followed. Any person in the affected area should avoid any direct contact with anyone suspected to have this infection since it is highly contagious and lethal.
