Ebola outbreak in Democratic Republic of the Congo is not part of West African outbreak

The World Health Organization has conducted laboratory tests that show that the Ebola virus causing the outbreak in Boende in Equateur Province is not the same strain as the virus causing the outbreak in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. In Boende, there have been 53 suspected and confrimed cases along with 13 deaths.

The risk for any travellers to this remote area is very low, provided the traveller avoids all close personal contact with persons suspected of having Ebola infections.
