Ebola virus disease - Democratic Republic of the Congo (update)

According to the World Health Organization, as of September 3rd, a total of 28 Ebola cases (8 confirmed, 6 probable, and 14 suspected) including 14 deaths had been reported from Haut-Uele district in Province Orientale. The reported cases and deaths have occurred in 2 health zones, Isiro and Viadana.

Any travellers in these areas should avoid any direct contact with anyone suspected to have this infection since it is highly contagious and lethal. Transmission often occurs during burial rituals for deceased patients, close physical contact with infected persons and their body fluids, during sexual contact or within hospitals through contact with blood and body fluids of infected persons.
