Extensive cholera outbreak in Kenya

The current cholera outbreak in Kenya has now involved over 13,000 people, of whom 216 have died. The outbreak has affected more than half of the country with approximately 12 counties that are currently reporting cases of cholera outbreak.

Advice For Travellers

It is not difficult to minimize the risk of exposure to this disease. Travellers to any area where cholera should strictly observe all food and water precautions. If gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., vomiting and profuse watery diarrhoea) develop while visiting the affected area, travellers should seek medical care at once.
