Fatal food intoxication, Mirjapuram, in Krishna District, India

Health authorities have reported an outbreak of food intoxication (food poisoning). Five persons have died while 30 others are ill (8 in critical condition). The illness began after consuming breakfast in a hotel at Mirjapuram, in Krishna District. The prepared food contained flour and oil obtained from a shop outside the hotel. Further investigation is underway.

Travellers in this region who may have eaten at this hotel should contact their physician immediately if any symptoms such as nausea and vomiting develop.
