First case in Hong Kong of Japanese encephalitis this year identified

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) in Hong Kong is warning the public to take preventive measures against mosquito bites following the identification of the first case of Japanese encephalitis this year.

Travellers to Hong Kong should be aware of the risk of exposure to Japanese encephalitis and take all necessary precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis should be considered.
