First case of Japanese encephalitis (JE) in Taiwan indicates start of JE season

The first case of Japanese encephalitis this season has been hospitalized in Kaohsiung City. Five more patients are hospitalized with possible infections. In Taiwan, the season for transmitting this virus lasts from May to October.
