Flash flooding leave at least 23 dead and 57 missing in Atacama region of Chile

Torrential rains in Chile’s normally dry north and in the Atacama Desert led to flash flooding that swept away villages and has left at least 23 dead and about 57 people missing.

Road infrastructure in this region has been damaged, and some areas are still without power and water services. In the worst-affected areas, a night curfew is in place.
