Flash floods around Nigeria often deadly

So far this year, seasonal rains and flash floods have accounted for 137 deaths. More than 30,000 people have been displaced since the beginning of July. The worst affected areas include Adamawa, Taraba and Benue states in the east-central part of the country. Travellers should exercise caution during the rainy season and monitor local weather.
