Flood waters now threaten Hungary

The worst floods ever are feared along the swollen Danube River that is expected to peak near the border with Slovakia, in Nagybajcs, on Saturday> By Monday, flood waters should reach the capital, Budapest where flood control measures are expected to contain a 30 foot rise in water levels. New all-time highs have been recorded downriver at Komarom. About 70 communities along the river have been hit by flooding.

Travellers should avoid the affected areas since essential services, including transportation, may be seriously affected.
