Flooding and landslides in Peru

Due to landslides and flooding, more than 10,000 people have been displaced and at least 40 villages have been damaged in the Ucayali River district since February. A 60-day state of emergency has been declared to make recovery funds available. Travel to Machu Picchu is not affected. The following districts are covered by the state of emergency: Balsapuerto, Jeberos, Lagunas, Santa Cruz, Teniente César López Rojas, Yurimaguas, Nauta, Parinari, Trompeteros, Urarinas, Belén, Iquitos, Indiana, Las Amazonas, Punchana, San Juan Bautista, Requena, Contamana, Parque Márquez, Pampa Hermosa, Sarayucu and Vargas Guerra, all collectively in the provinces of Alto Amazonas, Loreto, Maynas, Requena and Ucayali.
