Flooding in Malawi

Malawi has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past 3 weeks, causing flooding in the Karonga district and displacing 3,287 people from 60 villages. Both the North Rukuru and Songwe rivers were flooded and an area stretching almost 60 kilometres has been affected.

Travel to regions affected by flooding should be avoided since travel may be both difficult and dangerous due to damage sustained by the basic infrastructure and social services.
