Flooding in southern Thailand continues - update

The death toll due to extensive flooding in 10 of the 14 southern provinces now stands at 30 deaths. Heavy rains continue with over 20 main roads affected, and the only major railway route leading to the south has also seen services suspended along several sections. The main passage to southern Thailand, Phetkasem Road, has been at a standstill since Monday night after a bridge collapsed in a flash flood. Almost 60 bridges have suffered damage. The water remains waist deep in places.

Thailand's meteorological department on Sunday night predicted further rainy weather over the coming days.

Advice For Travellers

Travellers in the south of Thailand should be cautious and consult local meteorological and emergency reports. Travellers should avoid travelling in affected areas since essential services, including transportation, may be disrupted.
