Flooding in Tbilisi, Georgia

Heavy rains have caused flooding in an area of central Tbilisi, Georgia. A landslide on the Tskhneti-Betania Highway has killed one person and injured at least eight. Central roads have been flooded. The Vere River’s rising water level is causing infrastructure problems in the Vake and Saburtalo districts. Also the Tbilisi Zoo has been flooded and animals have escaped. People are being advised to remain in their homes until the animals are found.
