Follow up to coup in Burkina Faso

Following the September 16 military coup in Burkina Faso, land borders and airports are re-opened. A curfew remains in place from 19:00 (7 pm) to 06:00. Presidential elections are scheduled for October 11, 2015.

Travellers should be aware of the political instability at this time. At least 10 people have been killed and over 100 injured in clashes since the coup. With presidential elections scheduled for October, demonstrations could occur and turn violent unexpectedly. If large public gatherings or demonstrations begin, you should consider remaining indoors in a safe place.
