Government take over of Zaman newspaper causes demonstrations in Istanbul

Hundreds of protesters outside the newspaper Zaman in Istanbul were met by police who fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse he crowds. The government took over the newspaper and fired high ranking employees. A sister publication, Today’s Zaman, and the Cihan news agency were also turned over to a state-appointed trusteeship.
