Grenade attack in tourist resort area of Mombasa, Kenya

Two men on a motorbike threw a grenade into a restaurant bar in a tourist resort area of Kenya, south of Mombasa. Ten people have been wounded.

Travellers to Kenya should be aware that this coastal area has had multiple attacks since Kenya sent military to Somalia in 2011 to help fight the al-Qaeda-allied rebels of al-Shabab. In September, al Shabab militants attacked a major shopping mall in Nairobi.
