Gunmen attack boarding school in the Yobe state of Nigeria

Gunmen attacked a boarding school in the Yobe state of Nigeria, leaving at least 28 students and one teacher dead. Officials said the attack on the Government Secondary School in Mamudo town appeared to be the responsibility of the Boko Haram group known for violent attacks in this area.

Many travellers advise their citizens to avoid all travel in these areas due to the lack of personal security. In May, Nigeria declared a state of emergency for Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe when the launched a major offensive against rebel groups.
