Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease breaks out in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have reported 156 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease since last week. One of the infected children is in serious condition. Travellers should be aware that the season for increased transmission of this infection has begun in southeast Asia. Travellers who are travelling with small children who aremost susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposureto hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing andmaintaining careful personal hygiene.
