Hand, foot and mouth disease cases 3 times last year totals in Can Tho Province, Vietnam

Nearly 13,000 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) have been reported so far in 2012 in the southern province of Can Tho. More than 80% of the cases have occurred in children ages 3 to 5. This total is 3 times the number recorded last year.

Travellers who are travelling with small children who are most susceptible to infection with this virus can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
