Hand, foot and mouth disease cases increasing this year in Malaysian Borneo

Since the start of this year, (January to mid-February) there have been 1,383 reported cases of hand foot and mouth disease (almost 3 times the number recorded in the same time period last year).

Small children less than ten years old are most susceptible to infection with this virus. Travellers who are travelling with small children can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease virus by washing their hands frequently and by maintaining careful personal hygiene.
