Hand, foot and mouth disease increasing rapidly in Guangxi, China

In January this year, there were 9,336 reported cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, with 2 deaths. In February, although the number was slightly less (6,223 cases), there were 3 deaths. Small children are most susceptible to infection with this virus. Travellers who are travelling with small children can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) virus by frequent hand washing and maintaining careful personal hygiene.
