Although there are fewer cases of hand, foot and mouth this year compared to last year, children infected with this virus have been reported in 61 cities and provinces across the country.

Advice For Travellers

In Vietnam, the virus that causes this infection circulates year-round in most provinces, with 2 associated peaks, from March to May and from September to December. The southern region is the most affected area and accounts for over 60% of cases for the whole country.

Small children are most susceptible to infection with this virus. Travellers who are travelling with small children can decrease the risk of exposure to hand, foot and mouth disease virus by washing hands frequently and by maintaining careful personal hygiene.
